AWANA
AWANA resumes on Sept. 21 with a special kick-off event. Check back for details. If you would like to volunteer to help with the 2011-12 season, please contact Greg Livingston.
Awana helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. Our programs offer a proven approach for evangelizing and discipling kids in the church and community.
Hillcrest’s AWANA clubs are offered for children age 3 to 6th grade and meet at 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesdays (September to May).
Club Commander: Greg Livingston
Cubbies: ages 3 through pre-K. The Awana club for pre-schoolers is built on two premises: (1) Young children can and should receive spiritual training and (2) home is the primary place for spiritual training.
Leaders: Amy Livingston, Gretchen Benson, Heather Pickup
Sparks: Kindergarten to 2nd grade. Sparks club meetings combine learning with fun to create an atmosphere of irresistible excitement for churched and unchurched kids alike. Club meetings are divided into three segments: (1) Bible teaching, worship, award presentations and the gospel message, (2) small group interaction and completion of Bible-based lessons, and (3) age-appropriate games on the Awana game circle.
Sparks Coordinator: Jackie Watkins
Registrar: Laurie Lassinger
Leaders: Dick Johnson, Lucy Oberg, Dave Howard, Traci Stevenson, Jada Tellez-Martinez, Kathy Welker, Jeff Benson, Tracy Hewitt
T&T (Truth and Training): 3rd-6th grade (at Hillcrest 6th graders also have the option to attend our junior high youth group). The name Truth & Training reflects the passion of Awana to teach third- through sixth-grade boys and girls the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. Our goal is that many of today’s young people will become tomorrow’s church leaders. T&T is the program that trains the leaders of tomorrow — today.
Boys T&T Coordinator: Greg Livingston
Girls T&T Coordinator: Carli Wright
Registrar: open position
Leaders: Paula Beach, David Childs, Mike Stevenson, Aaron Johnson
Additional AWANA Staff:
Libby Childs, Nancy Olejniczak, Amy Beach, Dell McCann, Nicole Vanstrom
Each week, more than one million kids ages 2 to 18 participate in Awana. Over 12,000 churches in the U.S. and more than 8,000 internationally run Awana programs that change young lives through biblical truth.
Trained adults lead clubs that include scripture memory and action-packed lessons in Christian living.
